Vermont Organics Reclamation
Vermont Organics Reclamation is located on a 185-acre farm in St. Albans, VT and uses organic discards to produce peat-free organic soil amendments and other related products. Owners Tim Camisa and Mike Rooney utilize the phosphorus stored in cow manure to manufacture a highly organic grade of potting soils. They also raise piglets for Rugg Brook Farm and what they call “global warming mums” which are bred to bloom later into the fall than most regular commercial mums. During the severe windstorm on October 30, 2017, the plastic covering a 3-bay greenhouse that they use for R&D and plant propagation was badly damaged. With an Emergency Loan from the VFF, Vermont Organics was able to replace the greenhouse cover and be ready to launch a new product line growing tomatoes in 2018.
